Biography

Michael was born in Jaslo, which was part of Austria at the time of his birth. His records all say Austria but modern records may indicate Jaslo as being Poland. His native language was Polish.

Arrived in New York on June 18, 1892 on the Anchoria and his trade was listed as "carpenter". Records do not indicate he was married at the time.

Michael Niemiec was a baker by trade, according to his records. The bakery is listed in the Industrial Directory of Pennsylvania, Volume 3 as located at 4540 Stiles Street in Philadelphia. It would be assumed the family lived over the bakery.
