Nils was born in 1874. He was the son of Hanna Olsdotter [1]. When Nils was 2, his mother married a neighbor, saddle maker Clas Olander. Nils grew up with his mother and stepfather at Åraslöv No 15. He left home in 1888 and moved to Norra Sandby parish [2]. There, he lived with his paternal grandparents, Per Nilsson and Karna Magni [3]. He lived with them until 1892.
No father was listed in the birth record , but as his patronym was Nilsson, his father's name may have been Nils. At age 14, Nils moved to Per Nilsson and Karna Magni. There, he is recorded as "sonson" i.e. the son of their son. In other worlds, his father would be a Nils Persson, their son. They did indeed have a son by that name, born May 24 1849. That son left home in 1864, and moved to Gumlösa parish in 1865 [4]. In the Vinslöv parish books, we find that Nils Persson moving from Gumlösa parish to Åraslöv No 18 in 1872 [5]. He worked there until 1877 [6]. Based on this, he is set as the father of Nils here.
