DEATHS.
––––––
NINE.––Conrad Nine departed this life at the home of his son-in-law, the Rev. J. W. Hardesty, in Rowlesburg, W. Va., April 23, 1890, in his eightieth year. He was born and brought up on Salt Lick, on the farm where his brother Eli now resides. When quite a young man with no capital except a robust constitution and two willing hands, he purchased a tract of woodland at what is now known as Rodamer’s, out of which he made a farm on which most of his life was spent, and from which his fortune was made. He was a man of industry, economy, and strict integrity, and yet he was a man given to hospitality and ready to aid in every good work. He was converted and joined the M. E. Church about forty years ago, under the ministry of the Rev. James Freeland, and remained faithful until he was called to join the church triumphant which is without fault before the throne of God. His religious life was not ostentatious, but uniform and consistent. “He came down to the grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in his season.” He leaves behind three sons and one daughter, all settled and well to do in life, with a good prospect of the better life beyond.
The funeral took place on the 24th inst. at Wesley Chapel conducted by the pastor, after which his body was laid to rest beside the remains of his faithful wife who had preceded him about two years to the better land.
