Lawrence Ninnis was born in 1894. He was the son of Alfred Ninnis and Amy Chapman. [1]
Lawrence was a school teacher.
He enlisted on 15 May 1916 at the age of 21. He is recorded as 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a medium complexion, hazel eyes, and auburn hair. He served in the 27th Battalion in France and Belgium. On 9 October 1917 he received gun shot wounds to the leg and was shipped back to England. He was eventually discharged and returned to Australia in June 1918.
He passed away in 1978, aged 83. He is buried in Centennial Park cemetery. [2]
