Biography

Jenet "Jane" Nisbet, daughter of John and Nancy Nisbet, was probably born about 1768 in Ireland.

She married Hugh Knox, son of John and Elizabeth (Gaston) Knox, in 1790.

She was alive when Hugh wrote his will on 3 March 1821.[1]

Jennett probably died on 23 Nov. 1843 at Chester County, South Carolina.

Disputed Origins

NOTE: fathers name James but called John in bio!!!!

It is not certain who the parents of Jane are, and there is currently no source cited giving her maiden name as Nisbit. Additionally she is not named in the will of James Nisbet. However, it is possible she is his daughter as married daughters were not always mentioned and Jane's daughter, Lucretia is buried in the same small grave yard as James and Nancy Nisbet. More research is needed.
