Son of Isaac & Susannah (Jackson) Norman.

He served in the Union Army during the Civil War as a Private of Company M, 6th Regiment W. Va. Infantry and Company O, 6th Regiment W. Va. Infantry.
He is buried in the Spurgeon Cemetery, near Connings, Gilmer County, WV.
