Montford Stokes Norris was born on 14 Jun 1807 in Olgethorpe County Georgia. He was the son of John McKenzie Norris and Sarah Patrick. Mumford passed away about 1868 and was buried in the Norris Cemetery, Strong, Arkansas.[1]
1850 Census: Mumford L. (42) and Rachel (42) Norris are living in the Johnson Township area of Union County, Arkansas. The record shows that Mumford was born in Georgia and that there are 9 children in his household: Henry (18), Martha (15), Pascal (13), Amanda (11), Mary (9), Maria (8), Catherine (6), Milton (4), and Benjamin (2).[2][3]
1860 Census: M. S. (53) and Rachel (52) Norris have moved to the Lapile Township area of Union County, Arkasas. The record reflects that M. S. was born in Georgia. The couple have 7 children in their home: Martha (25), Mary (20), Maria (16), Catherine (14), Milton (12), Benjamine (10), and Ann (5).[4][5]
