Biography

George Washington Northrop, son of Amos Northrop and Susan Ann (Bowman) Northrop, was born on April 1822 at Le Raysville, Bradford County, Pennsylvania, USA.[1][2]

He married Mary Ellen DeWolf, daughter of Giles Meigs DeWolf and Anna (Spalding) DeWolf, on 13 Sep. 1849. [3]

He was a physician when he and Mary Ellen appeared on the census of 25 Sep. 1850 at Brookfield Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.[4] Mary Ellen died 8 Aug. 1856.[3]

He married Mary M. George, daughter of John George and Olive (--?--) George, on 16 April 1857.[5]

He was a farmer when he and Mary M. appeared on the census of 24 July 1860 at Troupsburg, Steuben County, New York.[6] He and Mary M. appeared on the census of 10 June 1880 at Troupsburg, Steuben Co., New York. [7] He was a landlord when he and Mary M. appeared on the census of 5 June 1900 at Knoxville, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. HIs granddaughters, Susie M Jordan and Faith Ankeny were living with them.[2] He appeared on the census of 28 April 1910 in the home of his son-in-law, William D. Jordan, at Troupsburg, Steuben County, New York.[8]

George died in 1913, at age 91, and was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Austinburg, Pennsylvania. His two wives are buried near him.[9][10]
