Biography

John was born in 1703. He was the son of James Nutman and Sarah Prudden. He passed away in 1751. John graduated from Yale in 1727, moved to Hanover, NJ in 1730. He was named pastor of the Presbyterian Church at Whippanong (East Hanover, now Whippany, NJ) in 1731 or 1732. He arrived when the congregation was in the process of splitting, with some of the members starting a new church in West Hanover, which later became the Morristown Presbyterian Church. He left the congregation in 1745. He was the uncle of John Nutman.
