She was only child and heir of William O’Bryen of Anacross, Co Cork (d. 1750) (Capt R Boyle ‘discovered’ to the Trustees for Forfeited Estates that Murtagh O’Brien of Anaghcross, forager for the Jacobite army [of King James II – TJG], ‘hath a personal estate of £2000’ (Ref 2) by Gertrude, his wife.
