Rachel Chloe Oakes was born on May 20, 1820, daughter of Thomas Oakes (1766–1829) and Chloe Rector (~1782–~1866).[1]
Rachel (21) married William J McElroy (24) (born about 1816 in Pennsylvania, United States) on July 29, 1841 in North Carolina, United States.[2] Their children were:
- Julia Ellen McElroy (1844–1846)
- George Francis Foster McElroy (1850–1850)
Rachel died on August 29, 1850 in North Carolina, United States, aged 30. She was buried in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Advance, Davie County, North Carolina.[1]
