Biography

Sarah "Sally" Oden was born in 1808, in Long Acre Township, Beaufort, North Carolina. Sarah married Levi Stubbs, II was born in 1810, in Beaufort county, North Carolina, a son of Levi Stubbs, Sr. and Bathsheba Jackson. Children of Sarah and Levi were born in Long Acre Township, Beaufort county, North Carolina:

• Sarah Stubbs, born 1835 ^[1]

• William C. Stubbs, born 1837, married Martha A. Boyd on December 15, 1858 ^[2] Served in the Confederate States Army, during the American Civil War and died prior to 1870

• Amanda Stubbs, born 1838 ^[3]

• Charles Blount Stubbs, born 1841, died November 23, 1899, in Craven county, North Carolina, ^[4] married Dorcas Ann Lewis, a daughter of Nathan Edward Lewis and Sydney Jones, and widow of Garrett Nelson, Jr. ^[5]

• Jesse B. Stubbs, born July 11, 1845, died July 28, 1911 ^[6] married Emma Hoyt Waters, born January, 1852, a daughter of Hoyt N. Waters ^[7]

• Augusta Stubbs, born 1849 ^[8]

Sarah is found on the United States census of 1850, 1860 and 1870, living with her husband. Sarah died prior to the 1880 Census, when her husband is found, at the age of 71, widowed, living in the household of their son, Jesse B. Stubbs and his wife, Emma Hoyt Waters, and their children. ^[9]
