Biography
Edmund Oldham was born in Church Kirk, Whalley, Blackburn, Lancashire, and baptised there on 1 September 1822, the son of James Oldham and Alice Unknown[1]
He was living with his mother and older brother in Whalley when the 1841 census was taken:
Edmund married Frances Sutcliffe at St Chad's, Rochdale, Lancashire on 25 December 1843, his fathers name was given as James Oldham, and Frances was shown as the daughter of Thomas Sutcliffe. [3]
In 1851 they were living in Nursery Street, Liverpool:
Edward Oldham Head M 29 Blackburn, Lancashire, printer
Edmund was visiting his brother James and family in Pendleton, Lancashire at the time of the 1861 census:
James Oldham Head M 54 Disley, Cheshire, block printer
Elizabeth Oldham Wife F 53 Weardale, Lancashire
Elizabeth Oldham Daughter F 22 Pendleton, Lancashire, cotton weaver
Dinah H Oldham Daughter F 20 Pendleton, Lancashire, cotton winder
James Oldham Son M 16 Pendleton, Lancashire railway goods clerk
Emma Oldham Daughter F 10 Pendleton, Lancashire
Edward Oldham Visitor M 35 Churchparish, block printer [5]
Edmund died sometime after the 1861 census was taken, probably in the Lancashire area. There is a death registered in Leeds in 1866, age 37, but there is no way of knowing if that is for this Edmund Oldham and the age does not match.
His occupation was a block printer
