Biography

William was born about 1730. He is the son of Lancelot Oliver. His intention to marry Elizabeth McIntyre, also of Rutland District, was entered on April 26, 1755.[1] William was still alive in 1781, as he was named in his father Lancelot's will, which left him five shillings but said that his father had provided for William earlier. There is a William Oliver who is noted as moving to Ohio in about 1788 with William's brothers Robert and Alexander, but it might be Robert's son William.

Research Note

There was a John McIntyre in Rutland, who had a large family, including according to records that I have not verified, a daughter, Elizabeth, born in 1726 (or so). John McIntyre was Scots-Irish, married to Grace, and was in Rutland by 1719 (by record of a birth of a child) and purchased land in Rutland with a deed recorded in 1744.

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
