Emily Adelaide Oliver was born at Bethersden, Kent, in 1874. In 1881 she, her sister and their parents were living with her mother's father and youngest brother at Bateman Lane, Bethersden. Ten years after that she was living on Runsell Road, Bethersden, working as a general domestic servant aged 16 for one of Bethersden's Jarvis families. In 1893 she married John Henry Kingsnorth at Bethersden. By 1901, she and John (a yardman on a farm) had three children living with them at Snoad Hill, Bethersden, and this had increased to five by 1911. Emily and John were living in the Tenterden Rural District at the time of the 1939 registration. She died at Ashford in 1961.
