Rosaria Oliveri is born and baptized on 10 September 1809. She is the daughter of Maestro Andrea Oliveri and Mattea Cutropia. She is probably named after Rosalia Listi, her maternal grandmother. Her godparents are Arcangelo and Giuseppa Paternostro, a married couple.
Rosa, as she is more often called in adulthood, marries Carmelo Mondello[1] on 4 October 1835. Her father, Andrea, has died by this time.
Rosa and Carmelo have at least ten children together: Vito (1836), Maddalena (1838), two sons named Bernardo (1841 and c. 1851), Calogero (1842), Andrea (1844), Vincenzo (c. 1846), Vincenza (1847), Calogera (1854), and Salvatrice (1857).
Vito is born and baptized 1 August 1836, Rosa and Carmelo's first born child. His godparents are Vincenzo and Vincenza Mannina, brother and sister. Contrary to tradition, he is not named after Carmelo's father; two brothers born after Vito are named Bernardo. Maddalena, born in 1838, is named after Carmelo's mother.
The first son named Bernardo dies on 9 July 1841, at six months of age.
Calogero dies on 1 November 1842, two days old.
Andrea dies on 28 November 1844 at seven months of age.
The second son named Bernardo is known from the record of his death in infancy, on 22 July 1851.
Calogera dies on 31 July 1854 at a month and a half of age.
Death of Carmelo
Carmelo dies at age 50 (b. 1807) on 25 July 1857, a month after the birth of Salvatrice.
Vito marries Bernarda Billetti on 20 November 1864.
Maddalena marries Vincenzo Mangano on 30 April 1865.
Two of Rosaria's sisters die in 1896, Vincenza and Biagia.
Rosaria dies, reportedly at age 85 (she is 87) on 12 November 1896 at 1:30 pm, the widow of Carmelo.
Maddalena dies at age 59 (b. 8 Oct 1838) on 16 August 1898 at 9 am. Her husband, Vincenzo, survives her.
Vito dies at age 65 (b. 1836) on 20 October 1901. His wife, Bernarda, survives him.[2]
