Biography

Virginia was born 2 July 1925 in Randolph, Orange County, Vermont, the daughter of Kneeland and Hazel (Davenport) Olmstead.

She married Wayne Manning and they had seven children: Wayne, Sandra, Glenn, Theron, Betty, Gene, and Peggy.

Virginia died 27 July 2009 in Lebanon, New Hampshire and was buried next to her husband in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Randolph, Orange County, Vermont. [1]

Virginia May Manning, 84, of Randolph, died Monday, July 27, 2009, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

She was born Jul 2, 1925, in Randolph, the daughter of Kneeland C. and Hazel (Davenport) Olsmtead. She was married to Wayne Manning on May 18, 1943, in Rochster, She was a dairy farmer with her husband all of her married life. He died in 1980.

She enjoyed bowling, flower gardening and doing crafts and was a member of the Early Bird and Seniorette Bowling Leagues.

Survivors include her sons Wayne Manning, Jr., of South Royalton, Glenn Manning of Chelsea, Theron Manning of South Royalton and Gene Manning of Orange; daughters Peggy Caldwell of Barre Town, Sandra Flint of Sharon and Betty Poulin of Williamstown; as well as 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers Henry, Franklin and Kneeland Olmstead.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 31, 2009, at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2009, at the funeral home. Contributions in her memory may be made to the (missing), 1701 N Beauregard St., Alexander, VA 22311 or to Gifford Medical Center, P.O. Box 2000, Randolph, VT 05060.
