Kjersti Olsdotter [1]was born on 14 February 1807, in Kronan, Brunskog, Värmland, Sweden.[2] She was Christened the same day in Brunskog.[3] She was the daughter of Olof Jansson, aged 20, and Anna Nilsdotter, 21.[4]
Kjersti Olsdotter married Anders Jansson on 12 October 1828, in Brunskog, Värmland, Sweden.[5][4] They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 5 daughters.
Anders moved the family from Strand to Lilla Skärmenäs, Brunskog, in 1831. They settled on a farm named Bråten located near Lake Långtjärn and 6 kilometers south of the Brunskog Church.[11] They lived in Lilla Skärmenäs on Bråten farm for the next three decades without major issues as the family grew.[12][13][14][15] By 1860, Anders Jansson, Kjersti Olofsdotter, and and all children except Jan (30), who married and moved to a nearby home still on Bråten farm, continued to live in their home on the Bråten farm in Lilla Skärmenäs.[16]
Anders Jansson died on 25 November 1861, at the age of 55.[4] After he died, the widowed Kjersti Olsdotter and the four children continued to live on Bråten farm in Lilla Skärmenäs, Brunskog Parish.[17][18] But on 14 July 1872, Nils Andersson moved to North America ("with attestation Nr 63").[19] And in 1876, Kjersti Oldsdotter moved into the nearby home of her son Jan Andersson, also at Bråten farm, for the remainder of her years.[20]
Kjersti died on 22 April 1889, in Lilla Skärmnäs, Brunskog, Värmland, Sweden, at the age of 82.
