Biography
Albrecht II, also Albert and Adalbert, von Orlamünde was most likely born after 1182.[1] He was the son of Siegfried III von Orlamünde and Sophie of Denmark.[2] He married Hedwig von Thüringen[3] before 10 May 1211 at which time he mentions his "beloved wife Hedwigis" in a document.[4] He died before 22 Oct 1245, the date he is mentioned as deceased in a document.[5] The entry prior to this document, dated 18 Dec 1244, states "XV. Kal. Januarii (obiit) Albertus comes laicus (de Orlamunde)." In context "laicus" denotes an unordained member of the clergy which given that Albrecht was still married when he died may indicate another member of the family, perhaps Albert von Orlamünde, a Dominican monk.
