Notes
The war would be WW II, and according to his Feldpost-No. he was serving in the German Airforce in the "Flieger Reg. 90 Stab. II". This Regiment was formed on April 27th 1940 in France from newly trained cadets. It was stationed first in Cherbourg, and later moved to St. Pierre Egliese and Langres (all in France) to be finally disbanded after the German retreat from France in October 1944. It is not clear what became of Richard after that, but I would suspect he was transferred to the East Front, where he was obviously captured by the Red Army and detained as a POW in the camp in Kowel, in what now is the Ukraine. He died in the camp in Feb 1946 and the notification reached the the Standesamt at his birthplace only in 1948. They then forwarded the information also to the Standesamt where the wedding took place in Doberlug, and they wrote it down in the side note of the marriage record on October 4th 1948.
