Biography
Konfirmert i Domkirken prestegjeld i Bergen 1769-04-02. Tok eksamen som gesell på Bryggen i Bergen, Handelsbetjent. Gikk som junge i 8 1/2 år før eksamen i 1776. En gesell var kjøpmannens høyre hånd. Han ble lagerforvalter og "skrivekar". Utdanning Gesell fra 1776, Bryggen i Bergen Formann for husets øvrige arbeidere. Han førte nordfakladden og liste over inn og utgående varer, og passet på at husets bestemmelser ble overholdt. Var med på gårdens rettsmøter. Hadde eget soverom og egen plass i kirka.
I følge folketellingen fra 1801 var han da 48 år gammel Gesehl og bodde i Klingsmuget 1 sammen med sin 48 år gamle kone, Dorothea.
