Biography

Purnell Outten II was born in Somerset County Maryland.

Purnell^[1] was born in 1761. He was the son of Purnell Outten^[2] and Mary Houston^[2]. He married Elizabeth Taylor in 1785. He passed away before 25 June 1798.

Purnell Outten II was born on 2 January 1761 at Somerset Co, MD.^[3]

Purnell was named in his father's will on 28 September 1795 at Somerset Co, MD. In his will Purnell Outten gave to wife Mary, lands & Extr and after her death to son Purnell. To son Joseph. To daughter Sarah Killiam, wife of John. To daughters Polly Barrett, Tabitha Twiford, Betty Smith, Lovey Lankford and Delitta Taylor. Witt: John Conner, William Conner & William Moore. On 5 Dec 1795 the widow Mary rejects adm which goes to Jessee Lankford.^[4]

Purnell made a will on 18 September 1796 at Accomack Co, VA. To wife Elizabeth all my property in Accomack County during her widow, then to my son John Houston Outten, Shadrack Outten, Joseph Outten & Molly Outten. Land & marshes left to me by the death of my father to be sold at the death of my mother & the money divided between my 4 children above named. George Ker & Joseph Outten, my brother, Exrs. Brother Joseph Outten to settle all my business in Somerset County & George Ker to settle my business in Accomack County - Witt: William Coloney, Jr., Peter Hack, Jr., William Watson.^[5]

He died before 25 June 1798 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was proved. Elizabeth Outten qualified.^[5]

His estate was settled on 22 February 1802 at Accomack Co, VA. 22 Feb 1802 (Audit), 28 Oct 1805 (Rec'd) - Elizabeth Outten Admr. The widow 1/3 for dower & 1/3 of a Negro man paid by his master's will. To John Outten, Shadrack Outten, Joseph Outten, Purnell Outten & Molly Outten 1/5 part each. Auditors: George Scarburgh & John Boggs.^[6]
