Biography

Mourning Ownbey (b. 11 Aug 1817 Buncombe, North Carolina - d. 21 Apr 1870 Gatlinburg, Tenn), was the daughter of:

  • John Ownby (b. Amherst co., North Carolina - d. Sevier co., Tenn)
  • and Elizabeth Hill (b. Buncombe co., North Carolina - d. Sevier co., Tenn).

She married to John H. "Bullhead" Whaley on 11 March 1805. She's buried at White Oak Flats cemetery.[1]

Ownbey-199 and Ownby-37 appear to represent the same person because: Neither profile has a birth source to support LNAB spelling, one will need to be found. Otherwise same dates, and husband.
