Biography

Lillie was born in 1869. She appears in the next census with her parents and many siblings.^[1]

Lilly married Harry Ensninger [sic] in 1894 in Newark, Essex, New Jersey, United States. She was 25 and he was 30.^[2]

In 1900 and 1910 Lillie and Harry were living in Morristown, New Jersey. The 1910 census shows their three children.^[3]

Except for son Harry F, the family was still together in 1930, now in Summit, New Jersey.^[4]

By 1940 she is a widow, but her son George is still with her.^[5]

Lillie died in 1957. An obituary mentioned husband Harry, sons George S and H Foster, and sister Mrs. Garret P. Marklay. The index gives her age as 38, but 88 would be more accurate.^[6]

Research Note

See her father's 1908 obituary scan at FindAGrave where she is named as Mrs. Harry Ensminger. There is no Mrs. Marklay, as mentioned in her own obituary. Daughter Nancy seems to have been first Mrs. Sizer and later Mrs. Markley.
