Biography

Birth

Jane L. Pardee was born at Wadsworth, Ohio, on 13 Feb 1837, the daughter of John Minor Pardee and Eunice (Chamberlain) Pardee.^[1] Her death record names them as her parents and says that she was born in Ohio,^[2] and the death record of her daughter Mary (Vilas) Seymour says that her mother was born at Wadsworth,^[3] where in 1850, Jane Pardee, 13, born in Ohio, was living in the household of John and Eunice Pardee at the age of 13.^[4]

Marriage

Jane Pardee married George Vilas at Pardeeville, Wisconsin, on 27 Jun 1860.^[1][5] The 1860 Census, enumerated in Wyocena, Wisconsin, on July 30, a month after her wedding, shows her as Jane Vilas, living in the household of John and Eunice Pardee.^[6]

Children

Jane (Pardee) Vilas was the mother of two daughters, born in 1861 and 1863, and they are listed in the "Children" section of her husband's profile.

Widowhood

In 1910, Jane L. Vilas was living with her son-in-law and daughter, Jay and Mary (Vilas) Seymour, and her unmarried daughter Ellen Vilas, at Grand Rapids, Michigan.^[7] In 1920, Jane L. Vilas was living with her widowed daughter Mary at Monrovia, California.^[8]

Death

Jane (Pardee) Vilas died from an acute intestinal obstruction at Monrovia, California, on 22 May 1921, with her age at her death recorded as 84 years, 3 months, 9 days.^[2] Her grave marker at the Live Oak Memorial Park in Monrovia is inscribed with the dates 13 Feb 1837 and 22 May 1921.^[9]
