Moses Paris was born in about 1747 in Maryland to Sarah Benison, age 23, and Moses Paris, age 25, in an area that became part of Harford County, formed on March 22, 1774 from the eastern part of Baltimore County with a population of 13,000 people. [1]
He married Mary Spinning on April 27, 1775, in Ashfield, Massachusetts, in Franklin County. [2] Ashfield lies in the eastern foothills of The Berkshires, with several high hills, including Ridge Hill, in the northern portion of town. They had seven children in 10 years.
In 1780, he was living in Rowan County, North Carolina. [3] As was typical of the time, Rowan County was originally a vast territory with an indefinite western boundary, but reductions in the county's size began in 1770, splitting it into at least five new counties.
He died in about 1791 in Fayette, Kentucky, at the age of 44, although many records indicate that he never left Massachusetts.
