Mary Jane Pate was born on January 16, 1835 in Kentucky to parents James Pate and Susan DeJarnette. She lived with her parents and siblings in Breckinridge, Kentucky in 1850. [1]
Mary married George B Burton on 14 January 1853 in Hardinsburg, Breckinridge, Kentucky, United States.[2] They had three children: Sylvester, Bastervield and Amelia. They lived in Breckenridge, Kentucky in 1860.[3]
George died in 1861. Mary married William Logsdon Smith in 1863 in Hardinsburg, Kentucky. [4] They had four childrem: Margarette, Susan, Charles and William. They lived in Hardinsburg in 1870.[5]
Mary lived her entire life in Kentucky. She died in Louisville, Kentucky on November 12, 1927. [6] She is buried at Taul Cemetery in Cloverport, Kentucky. [7]
