Biography

Charles was born in Newville, Richland, Ohio on August 19, 1868. In 1880 he was living with his father Peter, mother Sarah, two sisters and three brothers in Worthington, Richland, Ohio. He was going to school. He married Bertha Anetta Pike on September 29, 1892 in Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio. He is recorded in the 1900 census as Claude Taulen, living with his wife Bertha, three children, and two boarders in Hood River Oregon. He was a day laborer. In 1910 he was living on Gilbert Street in the St. Johns neighborhood of Portland Oregon with his wife Bertha, two daughters, four sons and widowed brother Weldon M. Paullin. He was an unemployed laborer. Charles and Bertha divorced in September 1911. He passed away in 1913.
