Biography

Johannes Paulson was born on June 24, 1854 in Almundsryd, Kronoberg, Sverige, son of Paul Eskilsson (1817–1902) and Cathrina Olofsdotter (1813–1875).^[1]

Joseph (29) married Anna Ottelia Hallberg (26) (born on May 8, 1857 in Klara, Stockholm, Sweden; daughter of Per Gustaf Hallberg and Anna Bäck) on July 5, 1883 in Tustin, Osceola, Michigan.^[2] Their children were:

Research Notes

Ericsson is not his correct surname, Eskilsson is. Until recently, the family tradition had it that Paul's surname was Ericsson, until I discovered that Joseph Paulson's birth name was actually Johannes Paulsson, the son of Paul Eskilsson. The birthdate, 24 June 1854, was the same. The first names of his parents were the same, Paul and Cathrina, aka Katrina, aka Catharina. And the fact that Johannes went off to be a King's Guard [in 1878] aligns with the family story, and then went AWOL is also part of the family tradition. The only part of the story that doesn't align is that the father of Johannes aka Joseph was not also a King's Guard, at least as far as I have found to date (9 April 2022).
