Melanchton J. Pederson can be found at the age of 40 on the 1930 US census for Enderlin, ED 9, Ransom County, North Dakota, along with his wife, Josephine, and their one-year-old son David Pederson. On the census, David is shown as "son-ad", which may indicate that David was adopted, and may be the reason that David's birth location, and those of his parents, were written as "Unknown", which was struck out and replaced with "US".
