Biography

Elias is the son of Francis and Jane (Osborn) Pelletreau. When he was about 10, Elias' father died and he was sent to John Proctor's boarding school. Later, he apprenticed as a Silver Smith from 12 Jan 1741 to 1748 to Simeon Soumain in New York City.

Elias married 1) Sarah Gelston, daughter of Judge Hugh Gelston, on 29 Dec 1748 at South Hampton. His known children are:

  2. Francis Pelletreau
  3. John Pelletreau
  4. Elias Pelletreau
  5. Hugh Pelletreau

Sarah died on 14 Apr 1784 and Elias then married 2) Sarah Conkling on 28 Jun 1786 at East Hampton.
