Biography

Mary Ann Pemberton was born in about 1815 in Scotland.

Mary Ann married John Frodsham on 17 Nov 1834 at Rainford Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. Both were of the local parish, and neither had been married before; John was a watchmaker. The witnesses were Samuel Pemberton and John Pemberton. [1] John Pemberton married on the same day at the same church.

Their daughter Elizabeth was born on 28 Aug 1835, and was christened on 9 Sep 1835 at New Chapel in Baldwin Street, St Helens, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as watchmaker, and the family's address as Eccleston. [2]

Their daughter Sarah was born on 31 Dec 1836, and was christened on 6 Feb 1837 at New Chapel in Baldwin Street, St Helens, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as watchmaker, and the family's address as Eccleston. [3]

Their daughter Jane was born in about 1839 in St Helens, Lancashire. [4]

By June 6th 1841, they were living in Sandfield Crescent, Eccleston. Jane Pemberton, probably Mary Ann's sister, was living with them. [5]

On 12 Mar 1842, John Frodsham (aged 29) embarked in Liverpool for New Orleans on the Hanover, as part of a group of LDS members, together with his wife Mary (aged 29), and their children Elizabeth (6), Sarah (4), Jane (2) and Mary (infant). [7] They arrived on 2 May 1842; about three quarters of the group proceeded to Nauvoo, Illinois, led by Amos Fielding, arriving there on 14 May 1842.

By 1850, they were living in Keokuk, Lee, Iowa, United States. John was a jeweler. [8]

By 1860, they were living in Keokuk, Lee, Iowa, United States. John was a watchmaker. [9]

Mary Ann died on 17 Jul 1869 in San Francisco of apoplexy, and was buried on 18 Jul 1869. Her age was recorded as 55 years, 8 months & 5 days, and her address as 1626 Dupont Street. [10] [11]
