Elizabeth (Penny) Noyall was a Virginia colonist.

Elizabeth Penny was born in 1635 in Isle of Wight, Virginia, the daughter of Mary Jewry and Richard Penny. She married Thomas Clarke about 1654 in Isle of Wight, Virginia and they had two children together. She then married Mr. Noyall in 1675. She died after October 1695.

Elizabeth witnessed the will of her brother-in-law, James Partridge, husband of her sister Frances:

  • Dep. of Susannah Garner and Eliz. Royall [sic Noyall, sister-in-law of James] that James Partridge said that after his debts were paid that he desired his estate should be divided between his wife and dau. ... 7 Oct. 1695. Isle of Wight, Virginia, Deed Book 1.[1]

Marriage & Children

Elizabeth married Thomas Clarke about 1654 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. No marriage record has been located. Elizabeth Penny is named in the will of William Jewry dated 1 January 1651 and proved 9 April 1651. The marriage must have taken place after April 1651. They had two known children named in will of their grandfather, Richard Penny, in 1693:[2]

  • Thomas Clarke, b ca 1655, Isle of Wight, Virginia
  • Elizabeth Clarke, b ca 1657, Isle of Wight, Virginia

Elizabeth married secondly, Mr. Noyall after the death of Thomas Clarke. They had no known children. No marriage record has been found, however Elizabeth is named as Elizabeth Noyall in the will of her father in 1693.[2]

Death

The exact date of death for Elizabeth is unknown. She was living in October 1695 in Isle of Wight, Virginia, when she witnessed the will of her brother-in-law, James Partridge.[1]
