Francisco Pereira was born in Portugal.

Francisco was born on the 1st of February 1741 in the parish of Canhas, in Madeira.^[1] He was the legitimate son of Pedro Fernandes Abelha and Francisca Pereira.^[1] Francisco was given his name by his Godfather Manoel Fernandez Afaiate who was present when he was baptized on the 6th of February.^[1]

The Godfather was Manoel Fernandez Afaiate and the godmother Joanna, the daughter of Joanna de Crasto Vieira; Said term, what is written is true. Manoel Fernandes a Afaiate (his mark).
