Matilda was born in Bexley, Kent c1811 and was baptised in Bexley on 14 May 1815, the daughter of William and Frances Perkins.[1]
She baptised an illegitimate daughter, Eliza Fanny Perkins, on 2 July 1837 in Ickleford.[2]
She married Daniel Newberry on 23 July 1838 at Ickleford, Hertfordshire.[3]
In 1841 they were living in Cadwell - Daniel Newberry 23 sawyer; Matilda Newberry 25; Eliza Newberry 5; Emma Newberry 3; Thomas Newberry 10 mths; Maria Perkings 15. Only Daniel born in Bedfordshire.[4]
Daniel died in September 1849 and in 1851 Matilda was still living in Ickleford - Matilda Newberry head widow 40 Parish relief b Bexley Kent; Emma Newberry dau 12 Scholar b Ickleford; William Newberry son 8 Scholar b Holwell; John Newberry son 6 b Holwell; Mary Newberry dau 1 b Ickleford.[5]
She appears to have had an illegitimate daughter, Matilda Newberry, who was born in Ickleford in the Dec quarter 1851.[6] and baptised there on 2 May 1854[7]
She remarried to Samuel Furr, widower and widow fathers William Furr and William Perkins on 5 Dec 1858 at Ickleford.
In 1861 they were living in Ickleford - Samuel Furr Head married 34 Ag lab b Clifton, Beds; Matilda Furr Wife 44 b Bexley, Kent; William Newbery Stepson 18 b Holwell, Bedfordshire; John Newbery Stepson 16 b Holwell; Mary Newbery Stepdaughter 12 b Ickleford, Herts; Sarah Furr Daughter 14 b Ickleford; George Furr Son 10 Holwell; Charles Furr Son 7 b Ickleford; Matilda A Newbery Stepdaughter 10; Samuel W Furr Son 5.[8]
