Biography

The son of Elijah Perkins (1756-1842) and Sarah Castle (1757-1800), Elijah Hill was born in Washington Township, Connecticut[1] in 1787. He married Julia Sophia Hill (1791-1831), the daughter of Daniel Hill and Electa Minor, posting a marriage bond on February 3, 1812,[2] receiving a marriage license on February 5, 1812,[3] and with the marriage being solemnized on February 6, 1812.[4] Their children included:

  1. George Royal Perkins (1813-1852)
  2. Lacora Maria Antoinette Perkins (1816-1852)
  3. William Hanford Perkins (1819-1858)
  4. Emily Maria Perkins (1823-1895)
  5. Julia Sophia Perkins (1823-1823)
  6. Gilman Hill Perkins (1827-1898)

Elijah and his family moved west to New York, taking up residence together in Geneseo.[5]

Widowed in 1831, Elijah remarried, marrying widower Maria (Bishop) Hale, in Geneseo on January 9, 1840[citation needed] and making their home together in Geneseo.[6][7][8][9]

Elijah Perkins passed away in Geneseo, New York[citation needed] at the age of 74 and is buried at Temple Hill Cemetery in Geneseo.[10]
