On 6 Jun 1900 at the time of the 1900 US Census, head of household Neils H. Peterson (age 48, born Jun 1852 in Denmark) was employed as a Farmer and living in a farmhouse he owned with a mortgage in Coon and Fairfield Townships in Buena Vista, Iowa with his wife Carrie K. Peterson (age 37, born Nov 1863 in Denmark); son Harry H. Peterson (age 18, born Sep 1882 in IA); son Clarence W. Peterson (age 15, born Mar 1885 in IA); daughter Mable K. Peterson (age 7, born Mar 1893 in IA); and daughter Jennie C. Peterson (age 2, born Nov 1897 in IA). Neils and Carrie had been married for eight years; Carrie had given birth to two children, both of whom were still alive at that time. Both of Harry and Clarence's parents were born in Denmark; both of Mable and Jennie's parents were born in Denmark.
