Biography
September 16, 2022 Ruth E. Vandermark, 92, of Montrose, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Wilkes Barre. She was born in Montrose, to the late John A. and Margaret A. (Bell) Petersen.
Surviving are her aunt, Helen Petersen; nieces and nephews, Charmarie (Chris) Bisel, Nancy (Arab) Blaisure, Sandy Greenough, Cheryl Kurosky, Roger (Mary) Taylor, Guy (Tami) Vandermark Jr., John (Sue) Vandermark; several great-nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Glenn L. Vandermark; sister, Eleanor A. Kurosky; brother-in-law, Gary (Shirley) Vandermark, Sr. and sister-in-law, Jean (Roger) Taylor.
Ruth was a Montrose High School graduate. She was a farmer's wife until his passing, then she and her son ran the family farm together. Ruth loved to collect and receive cow themed items. She also loved and collected stuffed animals.
Ruth and Wayne ran a successful farm together for over 40 years and loved the land. For several years they were recognized as Top Ten D.H.I.A Milk Producers for Susquehanna County. Both Ruth and Wayne enjoyed being with family, nature and animals. After they sold the cows, Wayne and his mother enjoyed going on the "Dairy Tours" and one-day bus trips sponsored through the Fairdale Grange. They visited and saw many wonderful places in the eastern part of the United States.
They deeply loved and cared for each other and lived every day of their lives together. Even their deaths were less than 72 hours apart.
A Funeral Service was held Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, with Rev. Doug Sivers officiating. Interment will be in the Montrose Cemetery. Friends called on the family prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth's and Wayne's memory can be made to: South Montrose Community Church, P.O. Box 86, South Montrose, PA 18843.
