Charles Petrie was born in Scotland.

Biography

Charles was born about 1861. He was the son of Daniel Petrie and Janet Montgomery. Charles emigrated to New Zealand with his parents and sister, aboard the vessel "Queen of the Mersey" which departed England on 3 July 1862 and arrived into Lyttelton on 19 October 1862. The passenger list records that his father, Daniel, was from "Forfarshire", a "carpenter", aged 28 and his mother, Janet, was recorded as being aged 24. Charles's sister, Janet was recorded as an being aged 2 and Charles an "infant".

He passed away in 1909, aged 48 and is buried at the Ellesmere Public Cemetery.
