Biography

Daniel was born about 1780.

On September 8, 1821, Daniel Pattengel received 320 acres of land, the SW and SE quarters of Township 16 N, Range 4 E, Section 32 in Central Township, Marion County, Indiana.[1] The land was assigned to Daniel by Charles Curtis, who claimed it based on the Canadian Refugee Warrant Act of February 1801. The parcel is now Indianapolis's Brookside neighborhood in the Near Eastside (10th St. to Brookside Pkwy S Dr., between Rural St. and Sherman Dr.) centered at 39.781671, -86.113544. Daniel was enumerated in Central Township in 1830.[2]

On July 5, 1837, Daniel purchased 400 acres in Bourbon Township, Marshall County, Indiana. 240 acres were the NW quarter of Township 33 N, Range 3 E, Section 24 and the west half of the NE quarter of section 24.[3] This is all the land between 12th Road and 12B Road, bounded by Elm Road on the west to about Maplewood Avenue in Bourbon to the east. This parcel is centered at about 41.299166, -86.1281025. Another 160 acres were three miles to the south, the southeast quarter of section 35,[4] which lies west of Elm Road, north of 15th Road to the intersection of 14B Rd. This parcel is centered at about 41.262856, -86.141921.

Daniel passed away in 1837.
