Harry Alfred 'Henry' Pettitt was an English dramatist, who wrote many plays that were performed at Drury Lane Theatre.
Harry Alfred Pettitt was born in Smethwick on 7 April 1848, his parents were Edwin Pettit and Lucy Hart[1]
His parents were not married, and his father Edwin left the family home when Harry was still a young child.
Harry married Annette Read in Islington, Middlesex in 1879. [2]. The marriage took place on 26 May 1879, at St Pauls' Islington, their fathers were recorded as Edwin Pettitt, civil engineer, and William Read, deceased, musician. [3]
He died at his home in Goldhawk Road, Hammersmith on 24 December 1893, aged 45, cause of death was typhoid. He was buried in Brompton Cemetery [4]
Probate of his estate was granted to Arthur John Flaxman, Barrister, it was valued at £44.935 1s 5d. [5]
