Delila was born about 1848. She is the daughter of James Petty and Vicy Russell.

Census

1850 Census. James who was a farmer was living at home with his spouse Vicy along with eight of their children in Carroll County, part of Carroll Tennessee. James was 37 and born in NC; Vicy was 38 and also born in NC. All of the children were born in TN. Henderson C was 18; Susanah E. was 16; Pinkney J. was 14; Mary J. was 12; Martha H. was 10; Morning R. was 6; Delila A. was 2 and Lidy H. was 2 (probably twins).^[1]

1860 Census. James R. Pettey was living at home with his spouse, Vicey, along with six of their children in Round Pond Twsp., Independence, Arkansas. James was 50 and Vicey was 45 in this Census. What appears to be six of their children; however, I'm not positive that William and Marinda are their children or possibly Mary or Martha's. Need further research on this but for now adding them as their children. All the children were born in TN; Mary J. was 20, Martha H. was 19; Delila was 12; Lydia M. was 12, William was 8 and Marinda F. was 6.^[2]
