In late 1912, Tim rescued Frank Farrall and Will Shinn when they broke through the ice while skating. It was reported in the The Oskaloosa Herald that plans were underway to nominate Tim for a Carnegie Hero Medal.
According to the 1940 census, Timothy was the sheriff in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa. Immediately above the entries for Timothy and his family, the census record lists sixteen prisoners. The family may have lived adjacent to the jail.
