The 1841 Census has a Phillips family living in Bedminster, Somerset, and lists John Phillips, 38, brass boundary worker His wife, Sophia, is 35. They have four children listed - Elizabeth 11, Sophia 8, Ann 4, and Caroline 9 months. The 1851 Census for the same location describes John Phillips as 48, Brass fitter, born in Bristol. His wife Sophia is 47, and born in London. There is only one child listed - Caroline, 11, born in Bristol. Also in 1851, living at a dwelling house in Bristol, and described as a servant, there is a Sophia Phillips, 18, unmarried .
In my search for details of birth or baptism of Sophia Anne Phillips circa 1833, I found enough detail to show that there were numerous Phillips daughters born in that district around that time, viz. - 14 July 1833 - baby Eliza Ann, daughter of William and Hannah Phillips 12 October 1834 - baby Mary Ann, daughter of John and Elizabeth Phillips 23 November 1834 baby Ann Phillips, daughter of Ann and John
