Emily was baptised on 11th October, 1863 at St Peters Church of England, Cooks River. At the time of her birth, her parents abode was listed as St Peters and her father's occupation was "Labourer". The Baptism was performed by G King.
Emily (age 19), daughter of George Pickering & Mary Ann Ibbotson (Hiberdson), married Peter (John) Burge on 20 July 1882 in Surry Hills, New South Wales.[1]
Emily died in June 1926 at Petersham, New South Wales. [2]

More than 200 mourners attended the funeral yesterday afternoon of Mrs. Emily Burge, mother of four famous footballers — Peter. A.B., Frank and Laldley Burge. The cortege was preceded to the Church of England section of Waverley Cemetery by 50 members of the Loyal Orange Lodge, and Lodge Sydney Tarbolton (Freemasons). Wreaths were sent by the N.S.W. Rugby League, the Glebe RugbyLeague Club, the Queensland Rugby League, the N.S.W. Rugby Union, Tooth and Co., the Palais Royal, staff officers and members Southern Cross Chapter, and the Chapter Sydney Tarbolton. The principal mourners were: — Peter, A. B. Frank and Laldley Burge (sons). Miss Ruby Burge, Mrs. A. Banks, and Mrs. T. Longman (daughters). Other relatives present were:— Messrs. A. Banks. T. Longman, J. House, W. Pickering, Mr. and Mrs. George Pickering, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pickering, Mr. and Mrs. C. Morris, Mrs. A. Pickering, Mrs. A. E, Pickering, Mr. and Mrs. H. Kelly, and Mrs. Agnes Baker. Rev. A. J. B. King conducted the service at the graveside.[3]
