Joseph was born in 1842[1] in Lea, Cheshire to William Piggott, a farmer and his wife Mary He was baptised on August 2nd 1842 in Wybunbury[2] (cheshire baptisms 1538-1911)
In 1851 he was living with his family at Lea Hall, Lea, Nantwich, Cheshire[3]
By 1861 he was living with his parents and 5 siblings at Shocklach Hall, Shocklach Oviatt, Denbighshire on a 245 acre farm[4]
He remained here for the rest of his life taking on the dairy farm after the death of his father
