William was born and baptised[1] in 1766 at Woolpit, Suffolk. He was the son of William Pilbrow and Anne Avis. William was married in 1789 at Elmswell[2] to Elizabeth Baker and they had a daughter Elizabeth the following year at Woolpit, but no other children. The latter Elizabeth would marry Henry Fisher, a Brickmaker in 1812 and it was probably this Fisher who was in partnership with William's half-brother Robert (and probably William as well) later on. William was finally confirmed as a Brickmaker in 1841[3] at Woolpit. He died[4] in 1849 at Woolpit and was buried there[5].
