Biography

Flag of Hampshire (adopted 2019)
William Pink was born in Hampshire, England.

William Pink was born in 1835 in Greywell, Hamsphire, England to William Pink and Susannah.

William Pink, son of William & Susanna, was christened on 25 Dec 1835 in Greywell.[1][2]

In 1841 William Pink (age 4) lived in Greywell with his father William (40-44), mother Susan (40-44), sister Ann (11), and brother Henry (2).[3]

Unable to locate William on the 1851 census. His family lived at Greywell Street in Greywell: father William (about 50), mother Susannah (52), and brother Henry (12).[4]

In 1861 William Pink (age 25, Parish Clerk & Boot & Shoe Maker) lived at Greywell Street in Greywell with his father William (66, Agricultural Labourer), mother Susan (61, Charwoman), and brother Henry (22, Agricultural Labourer).[5]

William Pink married Charlotte Smith in 1863. The marriage was registered in Hartley Wintney, Hampshire in the last quarter of the year.[6]

William and Charlotte had one daughter:

  1. Charlotte Pink (1864-1864)

William's wife passed away in 1864. She presumably died due to complications of childbirth, as their daughter's birth and death were registered in the same quarter as her death.

In 1871 William Pink (age 35, Shoemaker) lived in Greywell with his father William (75, Agricultural Labourer) and mother Susan (72).[7]

William Pink married Susan Collis in 1873. The marriage was registered in Hartley Wintney in the second quarter of the year.[8]

William and Susan had seven children:

  1. Agnes Ada (Pink) Knight (1873-)
  2. Edith Rosa (Pink) Cole (1877-)
  3. William James Pink (1879-1952)
  4. Florence Lottie (Pink) Bomash (1881-1928)
  5. Matilda May (Pink) Watmore (1883-1926)
  6. Frances Ellen (Pink) Watmore (1886-1960)
  7. Elizabeth Annie Pink (1889-)

In 1881 William Pink (age 46, Shoemaker) lived in Odiham, Hampshire with his wife Susan (32) and four children: Ada (7, Scholar), Rosa (4, Scholar), James (2), and Florence (0), as well as lodger James Raggett (61, Sawyer).[9]

In 1891 William Pink (age 55, Cord Wainer) lived at Hook in Odiham with his wife Susan (42) and six children: Rosa (14, Servant Domestic), James (12, Rural Post Boy), Florence (10, Scholar), Matilda (7, Scholar), Ellen (4), and Annie (1).[10]

In 1901 William Pink (age 65, Shoemaker) lived at Hook in Odiham with his wife Susan (54) and three daughters: Ada (27, Cook Domestic), Ellen (14, General Servant Domestic), and Annie (11).[11]
