Bernarda Piranio is a Corleone native, the daughter of Giuseppe Piranio and Leonarda Bagarella, who married in 1862. She is named after her paternal grandmother.
Bernarda marries Vincenzo Marino, son of Giuseppe Luca Marino and Francesca Scialles, on 10 September 1884 in Corleone.[1]
Vincenzo and Bernarda have at least one child, Leoluchina (1894).
Leoluchina is born 12 July 1894 in Corleone and baptized the next day. Her godfather is Antonio Mancuso.[2]
A margin note says Leoluchina marries in New York at the Chiesa del Carmine to Gaspare Pollara, son of Nicolo’ Pollara and Rosaria Leone, born 16 April 1888, and marries 15 December 1912. There is a corresponding note on Gaspare's baptismal record.
Leoluchina is 18 years old when she marries Gaspare Pollara, who is also from Corleone, on 9 December 1912 in Manhattan.[3] Gaspare is an associate of Giuseppe Morello's who is attacked when Morello is killed, on 15 August 1930. Gaspare "barely survives."[4]
In 1945, Bernarda's niece, Maria Piranio, marries Arcangelo Bagarella, her second cousin. He dies in the Navarra-Liggio War in Corleone. His brother, Salvatore, and his sons are associates of Bernardo Provenzano.
