Biography

Curtis D. Pitts was born in 1847. He married Mary E. Hayes. He died in 1925, and is buried in Grandville, Cemetery, Grandville, Kent, Michigan. [1]

Curtis Pitts is mentioned in the marriage record of his son, Daniel. [2]

In 1880, the Pitts family lived in Syracuse, Onondaga, New York. All members of the household were born in New York. The family included Curtis D. Pitts, 32, a clerk with NYC FD; his wife, Mary E., 34; their children, all in school, Nellie D., 13; Carrie, 10; and Daniel H., 7. [3]

In 1900, Curtis and Mary Pitts lived in their rented home on South Green St., Chicago, Illinois. They were both born in New York. They both could read and write. Curtis, 54, was a railroad office clerk whose parents were born in New York. His wife of 33 years, Mary, 55, had had three children, all of whom were living. Her father was born at sea, and her mother was born in New York. Living nearby (possibly in the same building) was their son, Daniel H. Pitts and his family. [4]

Curtis D. Pitts, 77, died on 28 March 1925 in Georgetown, Ottawa, Michigan. He was born 26 June 1847 in New York, the son of Levi Pitts and Sarah Washburn. [5]
